Partisan Against Fascism
Join us on Saturday 14th February for an evening of live music, speakers, and DJs to build opposition and solidarity in the face of racist rhetoric.
This event is in response to Britain First’s so-called “March for Remigration” on 21st February, a racist dog whistle calling for white-supremacist ethnic cleansing through the forced expulsion of non-white people from the United Kingdom.
Expect live performances from the Manchester People’s Orchestra, first seen at the closing ceremony of The World Transformed in October, and Liverpool’s long-standing community protest band, The Peacemakers. We’ll have Partisan DJs joining the dots throughout, alongside special guests (to be announced) to close out the night with a dance in solidarity 🌀
📆 Date: Saturday 14th February 2026
⏰ Time: 7PM Doors - 12AM
📍 Location: Bridge 5 Mill, 22A Beswick St, Manchester, M4 7HR

Radical Abundance Book Talk & Workshop
Partisan presents... Radical Abundance with Keir Milburn & Kai Heron
RSVP: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/partisan-presents-radical-abundance-with-keir-milburn-kai-heron-tickets-1982695430405?aff=oddtdtcreator
Capitalism has created a world of bullshit abundance, where we have too much of what we don’t need and too little of what we do. Through this system’s relentless pursuit of profits, we have been put on a collision course with social and ecological limits that can no longer be ignored. We need Radical Abundance!
Two of the book's authors, Kai Heron and Keir Milburn discuss how we turn the tide and bring about a world of human and non-human flourishing made possible by democratically planned production.

Leading up to opposing Britain First’s planned march through our city on 21st of February, with the background of increasing fascist activity in our communities, it’s especially important that we build & strengthen these connections, that we have the collective strength to take care of each other, to have each other's backs.

Training 6-7pm, followed by free food & hangouts.
Food will be vegan and gluten free, but we can’t guarantee allergies etc.

we never hit anyone harder than they want to be hit;
we support each other to push ourselves, but we never expect anyone to push themselves harder than they wish to.

General Members’ Meeting
Partisan General Meeting
☃️ Tuesday, 27th January 2025
⏰ 6:30 - 9pm, arrive from 6pm for a mingle
If there’s something in particular you’d like to discuss at the GM, please reply to this announcement!
We will be discussing our Safer Spaces Policy and Code of Conduct. Governance WG will be recommending a particular approach that adapts the work of other organisations. More information will be shared via email.
We understand this is a sensitive topic. Many leftist organisations have failed to confront sexual violence, ableism, transphobia and other harms.
There will be a quiet room available for those who need it. We ask everyone who comes along to approach the conversation with care and sensitivity, as well as respect for confidentiality.
There will be time at the end for members to raise particular topics and shout out any upcoming events.

Partisan Political Reading Group: The Filton 24 Actionists (Copy)
The next reading group is Sunday 25th Jan, 3-5pm at Bridge 5 Mill on the topic of Filton 24 (a group of prisoners associated with action against companies that are profiting from the war in Gaza. Some of these prisoners were part of the Prisoners for Palestine hunger strike).
Reading List:
- Maddy Norman, 'Death and Resistance: A Dispatch from HMP Low Newton', https://www.ebb-magazine.com/essays/death-and-resistance (Maddy used to live in Manchester and is a friend of several of us at Partisan, as is Yulia, another of the Filton24)
- Turner, J. (2018) Internal colonisation: the intimate circulations of empire, race and liberal government. European Journal of International Relations: https://files01.core.ac.uk/download/pdf/84743862.pdf
- Campaign substack: https://substack.com/@filton24
- Nor meekly serve my time : the H-block struggle, 1976-1981, edited by Brian Campbell, Laurence McKeown, Felim O'Hagan; compiled by Brian Campbell, 'The Second Hunger Strike Begins,' pp.146-176
PDFs of the H-Block book and academic article here: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1oG5YCABspDO4pDCwhLrl8-h3Jspqk8hc
You do not need to have read everything! Come along just to chat, listen and learn. There are some guiding questions below that the group can use to structure the chat or you can use whilst reflecting on the reading:
- Who are the Filton 24, what are they accused of, and why?
- What is the function of anti-terrorism law?
- What links does Maddy draw between life in British prison and life in Palestine? How could this inform our politics?
- What lessons did the Prisoners for Palestine hunger strikers take from the H-Block hunger strike? What did they have in common and what was different?
- How can we support prisoners, including (but not limited) to those incarcerated for leftwing political activity?

Partisan Players
Partisan Players invite you to join a read-through of Heiner Müller’s short text, Mauser (1970)
Beginners Welcome! Partisan Players is a space to experiment with performance, acting, and theatre. This session is a rehearsal for a performance at Partisan’s Festive Social. Come together to join in rather than attending as an audience member. This will be possible on Saturday 13th December at the Festive Social.
Heiner Müller was a German dramatist, poet, writer, essayist and theatre director. His "enigmatic, fragmentary pieces" are a significant contribution to postmodern drama and postdramatic theatre.
The short text, Mauser was completed in 1970, and is largely regarded as one of Heiner Müller’s most important works. Its première was planned to take place in the GDR in Magdeburg in 1972, but the production did not make it to the stage, and Mauser was subsequently never performed in the GDR. In this time, however, it received much success in Western theatres, and was eventually performed in the former GDR in Müller’s own production of the play at the Deutsches Theater, Berlin in 1991.
