Our next Riso Club will be August Bank Holiday Monday (31st August) 11am-2pm and we're gonna make a zine!

Everyone will create A5 page(s), which we'll assemble into a 2 colour zine and print so that everyone gets their own copy.

We'll have the materials to create your pages on the day, or you can bring pre-existing artwork. To give us enough time, we'll limit the colours and we'll stick to analogue hard copies (so if you have digital versions, bring a hard copy of each layer).

If you can't make it and would like to submit to the zine, send your (1 or 2 layer) page via the WhatsApp Community chat, and we will add it to the zine and leave a copy for you in the Partisan office!

Bob down to Alex Park on Pride Saturday and we’ll make a cosy patchwork of picnic blankets to enjoy a potluck together.

We’ll also kick off a game of rounders (dw we’ll bring a ball down for the footy heads too).

The plan is to perch ourselves behind the Pavilion cafe.

Partisan Cinema Presents: Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World

Partisan Cinema are very proud to present our first collaboration with Cultplex (@cpxmcr) where we will be screening Radu Jude’s 2023 satirical absurdist black comedy Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World.

Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World follows Angela, a production coordinator in Bucharest who spends much of her day driving round the city interviewing injured employees of a multinational corporation for a ‘Safety at Work’ video. Intercut with the Andrew Tate-style TikToks Angela makes to blow off steam on her long days, as well as footage from a 1981 film about a female taxi driver in the Romanian capital, a complex interrogation of the interaction between labour, gender and bodily danger emerges.

Radu Jude’s darkly comic exploration of exploitation at work in the twenty-first century flits between Zoom screen, phone camera and archival footage providing an at times uncomfortable but always compelling perspective on the absurdity and obscenity of being alive in the current moment. Radu Jude’s filmmaking is as discordant, poetic, dense and impressive as you would hope.

This is not one to be missed.
